Morecambe Live! is a series of events which took place in Morecambe over the summer months in 2010 and 2011. I am a member of the events team and I am responsible for the online content and marketing of Morecambe Live! At present I am currently writing to local businesses to help gather support for the festival season in 2012.
Morecambe Live! organise a series of free festivals which take place in and around Morecambe, mainly on the Promenade. The aim is to have a festival or event which is accessible to everyone for every week of the summer - A full summer of entertainment! These free events which run over weekends and Bank Holiday weekends attract tourists from across the UK and have been a valued source of entertainment for the residents of the town over the past two years. I am sure that if you have attended any of the events in 2011 that you will agree that the festivals have been a valued asset to the town.
Morecambe Town Council has previously funded the festivals in full, but due to other financial commitments they have been unable to fund the full festival season in its entirety. We are passionate about the festival season in Morecambe and know what business the festivals can generate to businesses, retailers, hoteliers and traders in the area. We are however hoping that with the support of local and national businesses we will be able to fund and put on a full programme of events in the 2012 season.
We are calling on the support of businesses, in Morecambe, Lancaster and the surrounding areas to work with us for the 2012 season in one of two ways;
Advertising - Morecambe Live! will be producing a full colour glossy magazine which will list all the events for the 2012 season. We will be selling advertising space to businesses at competitive rates. Businesses can take out Full Page, Half Page, Quarter Page, Banner and Classified adverts all at very reasonable rates. The magazine will be something that people will keep in their house and on their coffee table for all of the festival season - almost half the year! This will be an excellent way of reaching your customers as they will be seeing your adverts each time they pick up the magazine to check what will be on that week in the town. We will also be offering a small number of website adverts on our new website which will be launched in the new year. We are also happy to discuss advert related editorial text to feature on our blog and links through from our website, Facebook and Twitter at reasonable rates. Remember, advertising space purchased this way will be for the whole summer season, not just one publication with a short shelf life!!
Sponsorship - Morecambe Live! is hoping to recruit sponsors for the 2012 season. Businesses are welcome to discuss with us the possibility of either sponsoring an event in the festival season, a number of events or to sponsor the whole programme of events. In return for sponsoring an event or the support in sponsoring the festival season, Morecambe Live will be able to feature you in our glossy magazine as one of our sponsors, display a banner at the event or events which you sponsor as well as announcing your support and sponsorship throughout the day. We will be able to feature you on our new website which will be launched in the new year as well as on the Morecambe Live Blog, Facebook and Twitter pages which are all currently under construction. We will also have concessionary space available at events which would be free of charge to our sponsors so that they can promote their business or products to large crowds of people over the summer months.
I hope that you will be able to support the Morecambe Live! festivals and events season in 2012, with a little help from businesses in the area and further afield we will be able to build on the fantastic 2011 season and make 2012 one to remember. We are hoping that with continued support we can make the festivals bigger and better than ever before. What other seaside town in the UK can offer a summer packed full of festivals and events to tourists and the residents who live there? We would hate to see the festival season be shelved due to lack of funding and hope that you will get in touch with us to discuss advertising or sponsorship possibilities.
